Janet Sutton is the bass trombonist for the LR Winds, a position she has held since 2002. She
actually began her music career as a trumpet player. She switched to tenor trombone when her school band had none, a change she has never regretted. In college, she made a final switch from tenor to bass trombone.
Sutton performed with Mass Brass in Arkadelphia and is a charter member of the North Little Rock Community Band. She has been a volunteer in the elementary music program at Terry Elementary in Little Rock. In fact, her early career was as band director at Lakeside Middle School in Hot Springs. Since 2003 she has been the receptionist at The Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health.
Sutton received the Bachelor of Music Education degree in instrumental music from Henderson State University where she studied trombone with Wes Branstine. She is a graduate of Malvern High School where she was in Bill Stoecker’s band program.
